“Mariposas de la Memoria”
The mighty monarch butterfly… a beautiful symbol of change; of necessary metamorphosis to become what one is born to be, to embark on unknown migrations to ensure generations that follow, will too, adventure forth in life.
The Old Town Marketplace mall is honored to host “Mariposas de la Memoria”, a digital living memorial project produced by: Chico Arellanes for the local nonprofit, Community Cares, Ltd.. The project will provide loved ones with an opportunity to create a digital memorial file that can be continually accessed from anywhere with internet service, to be viewed by family and friends exclusively, or if desired; shared for public viewing via a QR Code that is scannable that is attached to a paper monarch butterfly for each memorial attached to the mall’s foyer ceiling. Donations given in the name of loved ones, in an amount of the donor’s choosing; will benefit El Comite de Longmont.
“The Mexican… is familiar with death, jokes about it, caresses it, sleeps with it, celebrates with it. He thinks of it as his favorite plaything and his most lasting love. -Octavio Paz from “The Labyrinth of Solitude”.
